  • The poultry sector has been making substantial progress in Africa since 1961. 
  • The poultry sector is one of the fastest-growing agricultural sectors in Africa, with an average 10-year growth rate of 40.9% in Africa compared with 36.2% worldwide from 1961 to 2021. 
  • Chickens accounted for 97.0% of Africa’s total poultry numbers in 2022, contributing 83.0% and 99.8% of poultry meat and egg production, respectively.

Noud Janssen, with a long history in practical poultry farming, graduated as animal scientist from Wageningen University and Research Centre. For years he has been running his own business consisting several poultry farms. During this period, he was also chairman of the board the Limburg Agricultural and Horticultural Association. Hes an expert in negotiating (economic) sustainable solutions for the Dutch husbandry sector.

Noud Janssen currently is director of Noah AgroFood, initiating new concepts in the agrifood business. He is involved in HubOranje!, an innovation platform for husbandry farmers. The platform stimulates and facilitates farm-based innovations in the production of quality animal products. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the position of husbandry farmers in the chain by working with partners on farm innovations, data sharing, vital chain concepts, product development and promotion.
